From The Sidelines

Sometimes the best storylines come from beyond the lines.

The impact a sporting event has is only as good as those who engage with it. Whether it is those who make a game a full experience like the drill team or those who simply go to the game for their enjoyment, so much occurs simultaneously with the play happening on the field. I try to take pictures of crowd reactions, outreach nights for a school organization or any other interesting occurrence outside the field of play at every game I attend in order to tell the full story of the event.

Bridgeland seniors Karryn Duncan and Addie Kriger cheer on the Bear football team as they face off against the Cy Ranch Mustangs. Bridgeland would go on to upset their district foe in the Mustangs’ homecoming game.

Klein Collins junior quarterback Tucker Parks speaks with KPRC2’s Randy McIlvoy after the Tigers won the station’s “Game of The Week” against Klein Oak. Parks’ five touchdown night earned him a “Most Valuable Player” nod by KPRC2.

C.E. King head coach George Young shares a moment with his daughter before leading his team out of the tunnel for their UIL 6A-Division II Regional Final game against the Katy Tigers. The Panthers fell short of clinching the regional title at NRG Stadium despite their 34-point effort.

  • To capture emotion

  • Understanding how different angles and positions change the photo’s impact

  • To crop in the right places to create points of emphasis
