Web and Social Media
“With the expansion of the Web and the ever-decreasing size and cost of camera phones and video cameras, the ability to commit acts of journalism is spreading to everyone.”
-Arianna Huffington, Author and Businesswoman
Something to think about…
Media consumption is ever-evolving, and it is journalists’ job to keep up with it.
Using technology to my advantage is what I consider one of my strongest skills as a journalist. Through utilizing various different social media platforms, I have been able to garner more attention to my work, put out information faster and build a distinct brand for myself.
Navigating social media is an extremely vital tool a journalist needs in their arsenal. It puts their work right at readers’ fingertips as fast and easily as possible. I feel the way I navigate these platforms will help me make notable steps in the journalism world.
Live Game Coverage
The role of a print and digital reporter now extends beyond simply writing a recap of a game, as consumers can stay in-the-know about games with the touch of a button. It’s important to meet them where they are, which is on social media. When sideline reporting, I would shoot the game and instantly upload the footage to post live updates, which can be seen here. Working for the North Texas Daily, this looks a little different operating from the press box and with television rights in the mix. On top of my primary duties of producing written content from the game, I also post on X, where I send out game updates, injury reports, emerging storylines and more. I try to go down to the field before and after the games as well to capture videos that fans may be interested in.

Live Press Conference Coverage
Some of the greatest insights and pieces of intel come from press conferences. Especially with North Texas football’s program-defining 2025 season, press conferences always consisted of notable news or captivating information to report.

Player Storytelling
As the PGA TOUR Creative Intern, I worked closely with the social media team to produce various forms of content stretching across competition, culture and player storytelling sectors. Specifically on the player storytelling side, my job was to sift through player transcripts and apply prior knowledge to find storylines that would be intriguing to the PGA TOUR audience. Using my journalistic background, I pinpointed multiple “miniature vignettes” on players, which I crafted into Instagram carousels as well as X and Facebook posts through quote graphics and video.
Below are a few examples of my player storytelling work for the PGA TOUR, which are posts that performed well for this form of content.
Before Me
Video Editing For Digital Platforms
“The Five” is one of the most visible franchises among PGA TOUR editorial, a written story that also encompasses a video element weekly. When the digital team couldn’t find anyone to edit the video due to scheduling conflicts, I stepped up to take on the project. Aligning with PGA TOUR editing standards and style guide, while also collaborating with the media asset management and ingest team to hunt down footage, I produced the video for “The Five”. The deliverables consisted of a full version and a broken-up version to be clicked through on the PGA TOUR website and app.
Below is a look at what I put together.
Social Media For RBI Austin
In the summer of 2024, I served as the Marketing and Communications Intern for RBI Austin, a role that required me to capture Major League Baseball’s youth initiative program through photo and video, as well as fulfill additional marketing needs. I brought a journalistic flair to the role by providing live game updates and postgame interviews, while also producing more creative approaches to their traditional style of posts. I created this content while also adhering to social media calendars and account performance, crafting posts that aligned with what performed well on RBI Austin’s platforms.
Below is a look at some of the posts made for RBI Austin’s accounts during my time as an intern.

Real-Time Video Editing
One of the biggest skills I learned during my time as a PGA TOUR Creative Intern was how to video edit in real-time, turning around content in minutes. This was a transition from my training as a traditional journalist, which allows for a full workday to turn video packages. Through hands-on experience, I successfully churned out clean videos to be posted across PGA TOUR platforms, utilizing platforms like WSC Sports to find broadcast video in real-time.
Below are some examples of my posted work.
